The Adam Portraiture Award is a biennial competition for painted portraits of New Zealanders, by New Zealanders and presents a breadth of responses to identity and representation.

This year, our judges (Karen Quinlan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, and Linda Tyler, convenor of Museums and Cultural Heritage at the University of Auckland) have selected finalists from a record number of entries. The winner of the Adam Portraiture Award will be announced on 26 February and will receive a $20,000 top prize. The runner-up will receive $2,500.

Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award, the winner of which will also receive $2,500.

The Adam Portraiture Award would not be possible without the support of The Adam Foundation and their generous sponsorship of our prizes.
